"Misty Thoughts" -China, Yellow Mountain Fine Art Print
This high-quality print is a replica of my original, one-of-a-kind oil painting on canvas. Inspired by the spectacular hidden gem- of Huangshan, Yellow Mountains, China
Huangshan is known for its beautiful scenery, many of which are enhanced by the presence of pine trees. It is one of China's most popular tourist attractions. There are many stories and legends about the Yellow Mountains, most of them speak about the magical healing powers of the mountain and about the Yellow Emperor who achieved immortality there. My aim was not the faithful representation of the rocks, mist and trees... but the reflection of my soul and emotion In these objects.
An important archetype in many mythologies, religious and philosophical traditions is the tree of life. It has a lot in common with the idea of a sacred tree. The world tree or cosmic tree is depicted in numerous religions and philosophies as a tree of wisdom, which connects heaven and the underworld, and the tree of life, which connects all forms of creation. I like to paint mountains, rock peaks or cliffs because for me they symbolise: eternity, stability, firmness and silence. Ancient cultures considered the mountain to be the centre of the world, serving as a cosmic axis that connected heaven and earth and brought order to the universe.
I express the beauty, emptiness, rawness, and sheer power of nature by using oil paint. I combine expressive brushstrokes with the impasto technique to create uplifting and magical scenarios.
